Senior Citizen Opportunities

Looking for activities within the community? Fairview offers plenty of opportunities for senior citizen discounts & fun around town!

  • Every Wednesday, Publix Market gives a 5% discount to Senior Citizens.
  • The first Tuesday of the month at 4:00 pm the Friends of the Library meet at the Fairview Public Library. Fund raising events help supplement purchase of books and special events at the library. The two main events are semi annual used book sales. Dues are $10 per year.
  • On the third Friday of the month, FCE (Family, Community, Education) meets. Dues are $20 a year. Programs and events are held to donate to the library, Meals on Wheels, as well as gifts for a needy family at Christmas. Some members meet on Tuesdays for quilting and craft projects.
  • On the fourth Wednesday at 3:00 pm, avid readers meet at the Fairview Public Library to discuss books that one another have read. The loose rule is to report on one fiction and one non fiction. No charge.
  • Nearly every Saturday a group of senior citizens meets around 3:00 pm to go for an early dinner or late lunch. This group goes to different places in Fairview, Dickson, Bellevue, etc.
  • The Friends of Bowie Park Organization meets on the second Saturday at 9:00 am at the Bowie Nature Center.
  • The Fairview Recreation Center offers exercise classes, yoga, and more. Senior citizen discounts are offered, but it is free if you have a Silver Sneaker Card.
